A-7 Corsair II BuNo. 15-4449:
This aircraft was in operation from 1968 until 1987. In 969 the plane served on both the USS Roosevelt and Oriskany.  The aircraft’s final time was spent as an Experimental A/C at China Lake Naval Weapons Station in Ridgecrest, CA, after which it was brought to Joe Davies Airpark and restored. Speed from 685 mph, a range of 3,224 miles and a ceiling of 45,000 feet. Built by Ling-Temco-Vought Aerospace Corporation, which is now Northrup Grumman. On loan to Joe Davies Heritage Airpark from United States Navy’s National Museum.

The Joe Davies Heritage Airpark in Palmdale, CA showcases a collection of aircraft flown, tested, designed, produced or modified at U.S. Air Force Plant 42, a source of pride and prestige for the city. The airpark was rededicated in Joe’s name in February 2008 in recognition of his tenure as commander of Plant 42, his service as a Palmdale City Councilman, and his role as commissioner on Palmdale’s Aviation and Aerospace Commission. The airpark displays aerospace, military, and civilian aircraft. I feel grateful and honored to have been granted access at night to photograph these magnificent planes.
